Love Tells The Truth

I Corinthians 13: 1-6

 txt vs. 6b  Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth;

Charity--A Godly love—Love that is just like God’s love for us.

God wants you to understand the love that He has for you. God wants you to understand Godly love, and in order to understand Godly love you must know the truth of God’s love.   The more you understand what truth is the more you will understand God’s love. The more you understand God’s love for you the more you will love Him back. 1Jo 4:19 We love him, because he first loved us.

1Jo 3:16a Hereby perceive we the love of God,…

Perceive--To discern; distinguish; observe; see; feel; know; understand. To perceive a thing is to know or to learn with certainty something, as it is presented to the senses or the intellect. We perceive that which is clear or obvious. We perceive light, darkness, colors, or the truth or falsehood of anything.

God is saying that we can know the love of God, just like we know daylight or night.
It’s obvious to us when it is daylight and it’s obvious to us when it is night. God wants His love to be obvious to us and God wants our love for God and others to be obvious also.

We can know how much God loves us by the things that He has done for us. We know the things that He has done for us, by reading, studying, and exercising the truth. What is the truth? The Word of God. John 17:17 ¶ Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.

Vs 6 again “Charity rejoiceth in the truth.”

Rejoice--To feel joy; to experience gladness in a high degree; to have pleasurable satisfaction; to be delighted.

Happiness, joy, gladness, pleasurable satisfaction, delight is found in the truth. Truth is not sexual immorality, drinking, drugs, party’s, rock, country, contemporary Christian music, emotionalism, religion, ungodly relationships, or financial success. You won’t find lasting happiness in these things because they are contrary to the Word of God, the Truth. True happiness is found in the truth.

Truth--The practice of speaking and living what is true.

God has shown us the truth by speaking and living what is true. God clothed Himself in human flesh and lived among us for over 33 years. He spoke the words of truth, He lived the words of truth, then He went to the cross to illustrate the words of truth, rose again to show that His words were truth, and wrote down His Word so that we may live the truth.

Because of God’s love we have the truth, now what do we do with it?

1. Love the Truth!

Get into your King James Bible and love it, learn it, and live it.
That is the only source of absolute truth. Your opinion doesn’t count, what you think the Bible says is a joke, your best guess about what God word says is false.  It never ceases to amaze me how uncaring people are about the truth.  We follow a religion, creed, or opinion without ever studying it to see if it matches up completely with the absolute truth of the Bible.  Fact of the matter is most people don't even care if their bible is the truth.  They just blindly follow, and as long as they feel good it must be right.  If you even remotely have any desire to get to heaven someday your going to have to have the Truth! Jesus is the Truth, and He wrote and preserved the Truth the King James Bible.  Get into the Truth and Love it!!! Learn what it really says!! Memorize it, quote it to your children, read it before you go to bed, read it when you get up! GET INTO THE BIBLE!!

Ps 119:97 O how love I thy law! it is my meditation all the day.
 Ps 119:113 …thy law do I love.
 Ps 119:119 …therefore I love thy testimonies.
Ps 119:127 ¶ Therefore I love thy commandments above gold; yea, above fine gold.
 Ps 119:159 ¶ Consider how I love thy precepts…
Ps 119:163 ¶ I hate and abhor lying: but thy law do I love.
Ps 119:165 ¶ Great peace have they which love thy law: and nothing shall offend them.
Ps 119:167 ¶ My soul hath kept thy testimonies; and I love them exceedingly.

Love the truth, Love God’s Word!!

2. Love tells the truth no matter what the cost!

People claim to only want someone to tell them the truth, but you know as well as I, that very few tell the truth all the time no matter what the cost. Some of you here lie a lot of the time or at the very least exaggerate greatly. You want to look important, or pitiful, or knowledgeable, or sick, or wealthy, or even Godly, so you lie to achieve those goals. God knows the truth all the time, and my wife and I know the truth most of the time. We know when your lying and the cost to this ministry is terrible. You have no credibility, you have to be watched constantly, you cannot be trusted to just do a job without supervision and for what? A temporary ego boost at the expense of a job being done right.

Ps 52:2 Thy tongue deviseth mischiefs; like a sharp razor, working deceitfully.
3 Thou lovest evil more than good; and lying rather than to speak righteousness. Selah.
4 Thou lovest all devouring words, O thou deceitful tongue.
5 God shall likewise destroy thee for ever, he shall take thee away, and pluck thee out of thy dwelling place, and root thee out of the land of the living.

But Love tells the truth no matter what the cost to them. If they look good, so what. If they look mean, oh well. Having to work alone, to bad.   A person who loves somebody tells them the truth to help them, even though it might cost them a friendship, or make them mad for a time, or cause an unjust retaliation, or rejection. Godly love demands that the truth be told!!

Ps 15:1 LORD, who shall abide in thy tabernacle? who shall dwell in thy holy hill?
2 He that walketh uprightly, and worketh righteousness, and speaketh the truth in his heart.
3 He that backbiteth not with his tongue, nor doeth evil to his neighbour, nor taketh up a reproach against his neighbour.
4 In whose eyes a vile person is contemned; but he honoureth them that fear the LORD. He that sweareth to his own hurt, and changeth not.

1Jo 3:16 Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.

3. Love tells the truth because of what is at stake!

Heaven and Hell are at stake,
Happiness in life is at stake,
A Clean conscience is at stake,
A Godly productive life is at stake!

Aren’t these things worth salvaging?
Aren’t these things worth talking about?

Eph 4:25 Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour…

1Th 2:13 ¶ For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe.

1Ti 2:3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;
4 Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.

There is to much at stake to not tell the truth!
